Telling Tales . . .
Resurrection Collection
The Resurrection Collection was first conceived of whilst sourcing costumes for a film. We came upon this rather unique collection of dead stock antique watch chains, dating back to the 1920's. Originally from the Jakob Bengel factory. They had been discontinued and put into storage, when the factory made the switch to fashion jewellery.
The German factory was founded by Jakob himself in 1837. Until 1920, the company specialized in the production of watch chains and chatelaines (pendants for pocket watches). After which they expanded to become one of the leading manufacturers of Art Deco fashion jewellery in Europe.
I fell in love with the unusual design of the chains and so decided to reappropriate a few into necklaces, which I then plated in 18k recycled gold. I kept a few and gave a few to my close friends..... they got so many comments that I decided to start this collection for all those that asked "Where can I buy one?"
And so the Resurrection Collection was born.
Pin Up Collection
The Pin Up Collection came about from a love for antique jewellery, especially Victorian gold. Over years of trailing through antique markets searching for treasure, which has long been a hobby of mine, I kept coming across these rather precious tie pins.
The workmanship was so beautiful and intricate, I was inspired to figure out a way of being able to wear them in a more practical form than their intended use. Through my film costume contacts I found an award winning jeweller who was equally inspired by my project. And so we took these delicate little stick pins and carefully deconstructed and reimagined them to create 'one of a kind' necklaces and earrings. All the clasps and earring hooks are hand made in her studio, whilst the chains are sourced from the renowned Hatton Garden jewellery quarter in London
The Pin Up Collection was originally dreamt up back in 2014 under the name 'Stick A Pin In It' by Coolstill. I made up a small selection, gifting some to friends and selling the rest. We also made an appearance at the 'Laylow' Christmas Fair back in 2019. After Covid I put all my jewellery passions on hold for a while, concentrating on my film work. Then inspiration hit once more and the Resurrection Collection was born. I changed my brand name from Coolstill to Kindship and the rest is history.
